The Interconnect business is global and spans every sector: aerospace, military, defence, marine, rail, offshore, automotive and civil engineering. ‘Interconnect’ is about cable bundles, electrical wiring harnesses and looms that distribute data and power.

Aircraft carry miles of cables arranged into bundles that are distributed around the airframe, wings, pylons and engines. Individual bundles are joined together with multi-pin connectors. Backshells, fastened to the connectors, provide the primary function of strain relief to protect cables from pull-out. Bundles that need protection from EMI (electro-magnetic interference), RFI (radio frequency interference) and lightning-strike are wrapped in a woven steel braid or sleeve. This is especially true of all-composite aircraft such as the A350 and B787. In space, protection against cyber-attack from hostile external threat actors is vital.

Our unique range of X1 backshells and XT transitions are compatible with both woven tubular braids and the latest ‘open’ sleeves, managing harness connection and branches with ease.
